Hi, I’m Christine! Welcome to Live Life Butter!
I’m a 30-something living in Los Angeles, CA, I have an awesome dog and I love butter almost as much as Oprah loves bread. Problem seems to be, however, that I also love being a healthy human being. Live Life Butter is not only an record of the food projects I’ve taken on, it’s also basically an account of my trials and tribulations related to balancing those two seemingly opposite objectives. My thought though, is that those things can most definitely work together to result in healthy organs, including a happy heart.
Part of the challenge – I not only love to eat, I love to bake.
Although I don’t have any culinary or professional food training, I have loved food since I was a kid. I love to cook and, especially as of late, I love baking big ol’ desserts and tons of cookies.
The first cookies I ever decorated were beach cookies for my surfer brother’s birthday. I found SweetAmbs’ tutorials on how to decorate cookies using royal icing (she makes it look so easy!) and I decided to give it a shot. My brother loved them and I was super excited to keep going.
The first big cake I made was for my niece’s first birthday party. I watch a ton of cake decorating tutorials from How to Cake It and Zoe’s Fancy Cakes and it seemed doable. So, I ended up making a toy lion in a gift box cake! I learned a ton through that endeavor and quickly became addicted. I loved the challenge and I loved being able to make something, with my own hands, that made people happy. The cake took well over 20 hours to complete (!!!), but it was worth it. Since, I’ve decorated cakes for all our family get-togethers. See all of them here.
So, welcome to Live Life Butter, where I attempt to live each day getting just a little bit better at balancing decorating my cake and eating it too!
